Business of the Year – Universal Components UK Ltd
The Barnsley based company took away the top prize at this year’s Business Awards, after triumphing over the competition at the ceremony, held in October at Magna Science Centre in Rotherham.
This followed the company’s earlier success in the Excellence in International Trade award. A third of the companies turnover and despatch of goods sits with their dedicated export department and they currently distribute to 55 countries around the world on every major continent.
In the past 10 years the company has grown from a turnover of £8M to £30M, using a mixture of commercial acumen and clever strategic growth including utilising new product development and building commercial relationships. The company not only export goods, Universal Components imports in excess of £10M in goods to the UK as well.

The company was established in 1908, originally named Kellett, and is today an active company that are globally recognised with a brand that reaches all corners of the world from their base in the UK.
