Barnsley FC Community Trust has been named Charity of the Year at the 2024 Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards. This award not only highlights the trust’s incredible contribution to the community but also secures its position as the Chamber’s official Charity of the Year for the next 12 months.
The awards ceremony, held on Friday, 8th November at Magna in Rotherham, celebrated the resilience, innovation, and dedication of businesses and organisations across South Yorkshire. Over 500 guests, including prominent business leaders from across Barnsley, Rotherham, attended the spectacular evening, which featured live entertainment, a DJ set, and the exhilarating Cliffhanger ride to cap off the festivities.
The Charity of the Year award acknowledges the trust’s transformative work in the community, using the power of football and its unique connection with Barnsley Football Club to inspire and improve lives. The trust operates across four key themes—Education, Health, Social Inclusion, and Sports Participation—providing vital support and creating opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds.
The event was headline-sponsored by Barnsley College, with Chamber President Matthew Stephens applauding all winners and finalists for their outstanding contributions:
